GRADUATES OF THE CNISS CERTIFICATE PROGRAM
Here are examples of recent placements for CNISS Certificate Program
graduates. Each graduate's country of origin and field of study is
given as well. The Center was excited to assist these fellows in
finding academic positions in leading institutions across the country
and abroad:
Art
Carden - United States,
Economics
Art recently completed his Ph.D. under the direction of John Nye and
Nobel Laureate Douglass C. North.
Support from CNISS has allowed him to present his research at numerous
conferences, and his research has won
awards from the Missouri Valley Economic Association and the Society
for the Development of Austrian
Economics. He joined the faculty of Rhodes College in the Fall of 2006.

Janice
Compton - Canada, Economics
Janice is an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at the
University of Manitoba in
Canada – the largest public university in Manitoba. She is teaching
introductory microeconomics
and macroeconomics, along with researching issues concerning family
institutions. These
issues include how time preference affects marriage and divorce, how
changes in family structure affect the
provision of child related public goods, and how family
responsibilities influence migration behavior.

Ryan
Compton - Canada, Economics
Ryan is an Assistant Professor in the Economics Department at the
University of Manitoba in Canada. He is teaching courses on the
principles of economics as well as macroeconomic theory. He is
researching financial market institutions and growth, as well as
coauthoring a paper on political instability and economic growth.

René
Lindstädt
- Germany, Political Science
For the 2006 academic year, René has accepted a Educational
Programs Certificate Program in Institutional Social Sciences
tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Political Economy in
the Department of Political Science at SUNY-Stony Brook. He will be
teaching classes in political economy, public policy and political
methodology.

Vahe
Lskavyan - Armenia, Economics
Vahe took a position as Assistant Professor in the Economics Department
at Ohio State University. Vahe’s research topics include industrial
organization, corporate finance, and governance, transition, and
developing economies. He is currently teaching a course on managerial
economics, which applies mathematics and statistics to the managerial
decision-making process.

Gina
Marie Yannitell Reinhardt
- United States, Political Science
Gina joined the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas
A&M University as an assistant professor after
completing her Ph.D. in Political Science at Washington University in
2005. She teaches Quantitative Methods, Public Policy Analysis, and
Political Economy of International Development. She specializes in
political economy, game theory, and statistical methods of examining
decision-making. Gina’s additional research focuses on the competition
for
resources among non-profit foreign aid recipients; current cases under
investigation – where she has conducted onsite
research – include Brazil, Portugal, Spain, and Italy. One of her
current projects is funded by the National Science Foundation and
explores how public perceptions of risk and uncertainty have changed
since the occurrence of Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.

Meg
Rincker - United States,
Political Science
Meg is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at
her alma mater of Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington. She is
teaching courses in Comparative Politics, European and East European
Politics, Gender, and Public Policy.

Eric
Rovie - United States,
Philosophy
Eric is Visiting Instructor in the Philosophy Department at his
undergraduate alma mater, Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.
GSU has a highly-ranked terminal Master’s program in Philosophy and an
active Center for Ethics. While teaching at GSU, Eric’s
responsibilities include core undergraduate courses in philosophy
(Great Questions), as well as advanced undergraduate courses (including
Ancient and Medieval Philosophy, Moral Problems, and The Morality of
War). In addition, his teaching includes honors sections of several
courses and the supervision of several honors student’s theses and
essay contest applications.
